Also known as Locality Mu 1; Miser, Sept. 9, 1914

Where: Carroll County, Arkansas (36.2° N, 93.3° W: paleocoordinates 8.8° S, 31.0° W)

• coordinate stated in text

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Witts Springs Formation, Morrowan (323.2 - 318.6 Ma)

• The Hale formation and the Bloyd shale can be differentiated and most of their subdivisions recognized as far southeast as the northwest part of Newton County, in the vicinity of Compton. Southeast of this area, there is a gradual increase in sand content and a thickening of the Marrow section. In this region the upper part of the Hale formation and the various subdivisions recognized in Washington County cannot be differentiated. East of Compton, therefore, or for practical purposes east of Madison County, the rocks of Morrow age between the Imo formation below and the Atoka formation above are called the Witts Springs formation

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: coastal; lithified sandstone

• "Hale Formation (Top)" Sandstones

Size class: macrofossils
