When: Ar Rahlah Member (Marada Formation), Aquitanian to Aquitanian (23.0 - 16.0 Ma)
• The Marada Formation is divided into two members; a lower Qarat Jahannam Member and an upper Ar Rahlah Member. The Ar Rahlah Member consists of carbonates in the lower part which change facies both laterally and vertically into terrigenous clastics. The lower part (the carbonates facies) is made up of green and yellow calcaerous sandstones, dolomites, and coquinoid limestones. The upper part (the clastic facies) is composed of white and green, bioturbated, calcareous sandstones and minor conglomerates. Its thickness is approximately 47 m (154 ft). It is assigned a lower-middle Miocene (Aquitanian-Serravallian) age.
