When: Upper Member (Ras Shagra Formation), Late/Upper Pliocene (3.6 - 2.6 Ma)
• The Ras Shagra Formation was proposed for a 102 m (334 ft) thick unit at Wadi Shagra, composed of coarse-grained sandstones and grits underlain by reefal limestones and sandstones. It is divided into two members. The lower member is 80 m (262 ft) thick and composed of sandstones, marls, reefal limestones, and calcareous grits. The upper member is 22 m (72 ft) thick and consists of sandstones and gravels with marl intercalations and reefal limestones near the top. Collection comes from upper unit.
