• Kemp calls the Selsey a "division", Hooker, 1996 calls it a formation. This bed is within the "Pinna Bed" and has a thickness of 0.39 m.

Environment/lithology: marginal marine; glauconitic, silty, sandy claystone and shelly/skeletal, brown, gray claystone

• The Selsey formation is fine silty and sandy, glauconitic clay. This bed is grey stiff slickensided clays with brown patches and occasional Corbulids and Nummulites sp.
