• Kemp calls the Selsey a "division", Hooker, 1996 calls it a formation. This bed is within the "PinnaBed" and has a thickness of 0.57 m.

Environment/lithology: marginal marine; glauconitic, silty, sandy claystone and bioturbated, glauconitic, pebbly, shelly/skeletal, gray, green, argillaceous, silty sandstone

• The Selsey formation is fine silty and sandy, glauconitic clay. This bed is dark green-grey glauconitic sandy clay-silty sand[honestly, that's what it says-EL], intensely bioturbated at base, with occasional round black pebbles and large molluscs above.
