Where: Alberta, Canada (51.6° N, 112.9° W: paleocoordinates 59.3° N, 78.8° W)

When: Horseshoe Canyon Formation (Edmonton Group), Late/Upper Campanian to Late/Upper Campanian (83.5 - 66.0 Ma)

• found "low in the lower member of the Edmonton Formation" (now = Horseshoe Canyon Fm.)

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: terrestrial; concretionary, gray, carbonaceous shale and lithified conglomerate

• "Dark gray carbonaceous shale containing comminuted plant fragments surrounded the fossil. A thin layer of hard, clay-pellet conglomerate lay just beneath it...zones of concretionary induration (so-called clay-ironstone) have developed adjacent to the bone."
