Environment/lithology: marine; siltstone and limestone

• for entire formation (Ghost Creek): dark, pyritic shales; occasional sandstones and nodular limestones are present and the top of the formation becomes locally glauconitic in the north. oil stains and bitumen are pervasive (sample collected from siltstone/mudstone horizon)
