Kekexiongkuduke Formation in Hoboksar County, NW Xinjiang Province (Silurian of China)

Where: Xinjiang, China (46.8° N, 85.7° E: paleocoordinates 0.6° S, 69.8° E)

• coordinate based on political unit

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Kekexiongkuduke Formation, Ludlow (427.4 - 423.0 Ma)

• Except where otherwise stated, ref. 7624 uses Lower Silurian as equivalent to Llandovery, Middle Silurian as equivalent to Wenlock, and Upper Silurian as equivalent to Ludlow plus Pridoli. "This fauna was assigned [Wang Wu-yan 1979] to the Ludlow, although the faunal list does not provide very compelling evidence despite the faunas occurrence above beds assigned by them to the Wenlock."

• formation-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; volcaniclastic siliciclastic sediments and siltstone

• Correlation chart indicates BA 3 position.
• "The beds consis of volcanogenic material with some interbedded siltstone. The total thickness is 1360 m."
