• "Probably BA 1 ... but more open marine conditions as indicated by the presence of additional, fully marine organisms. Ruedemann (1925) suggested that the Bertie was a 'lagoonal deposit' formed behind coral reefs, with salt hoppers indicating hypersaline conditions."
