M. laevigata Assoc. of facies 4, Upper Bringewood Beds, Welsh Borderland (Silurian of the United Kingdom)

Where: England, United Kingdom (52.0° N, 3.0° W: paleocoordinates 27.9° S, 13.0° W)

• coordinate based on political unit

• basin-level geographic resolution

When: Upper Bringewood Formation, Gorstian (427.4 - 425.6 Ma)

• Age assignment based on ref. 6658.

• formation-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; bioturbated lime mudstone and bioturbated, argillaceous grainstone

• Quiet-water deposit. Active currents rare to absent. Interpreted to be protected, behind bank system of facies 5 and 6. Low organic productivity (little skeletal material).
• Facies 4 consists of bioturbated calcilutites and bioturbated argillaceous calcisiltites, normall with a few, mud-supported skeletal components...most parts of the facies contain only remnants of original lamination. Erosively based lenses of shells and tabular beds of laminated calcisiltite present sporadically.

Size class: macrofossils
