Where: Sulaimani, Iraq (35.1° N, 45.8° E: paleocoordinates 21.4° N, 39.0° E)
When: Khurmala Formation, Thanetian to Thanetian (59.2 - 47.8 Ma)
Environment/lithology: lagoonal or restricted shallow subtidal; yellow limestone
• Well bedded gray to light yellow fossiliferous limestone, it contains pelecypods and gastropods (Fig. 9), milliolids, red algae with a bed of conglomerate (20 cm) at the top.
