Where: Washington County, Utah (37.3° N, 113.8° W: paleocoordinates 30.4° N, 55.6° W)
• coordinate stated in text
• small collection-level geographic resolution
When: Carmel Formation, Bathonian (168.3 - 166.1 Ma)
• Upper horizon of ostreoliths in Member D of the Carmel Formation approximately 15 m below the base of the overlying Dakota Conglomerate. An 40Ar/39Ar date of 166.3 +/- 0.8 million years (Kowallis et al., 1993) from sanidine crystals in an ash bed at the base of 'Member E' of Nielson... would place the upper part of the Carmel Formation, including the bryozoans, in the Bathonian.
• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: shallow subtidal; limestone and sandstone
Size class: macrofossils
Reposited in the BMNH
