When: Na Khaem Formation, Middle Miocene (16.0 - 11.6 Ma)

Environment/lithology: terrestrial; lithified coal

• The [...] Na Khaem Formation contains the main lignite-bearing units, interbedded with lacustrine claystones, mudstones and minor sandstones. This indicates sedimentation under the alternation of freshwater lake and swamp/marsh of a calcium-rich lacustrine environ- ment.
