La Pissoire Quarries, EF4 tracksite (Triassic to of France)

Also known as Saint-Sernin-du-Bois, EF 4

Where: Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, France (46.8° N, 4.4° E: paleocoordinates 11.6° N, 16.0° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Grès d'Antully Formation, Anisian to Anisian (247.2 - 237.0 Ma)

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: "floodplain"; argillaceous, sandy claystone and sandstone

• shallow marine environment with ripple-marks, lagoonal. Regression or evaporation leaves salt-water pools separated by small wrinkled "domes". Animals supposedly left traces immediately afterward, because the "wrinkled zone" shows neither tracks nor evaporites.
• "a natural mixture of an ancient clayey-sandy soil with reptile traces, which were not preserved in out study area." (translated by M. Carrano).

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: mold/impression, trace
