Environment/lithology: estuary or bay; mudstone

• Represents deposition in an estuarine environment or tidal flat, influenced by occasional high freshwater streamflows from the continent and tidal currents from the sea. This facies association was deposited under a seasonal climate with alternating periods of humidity and aridity.
• Composed mostly of laminated mudstones, pelitic fine sandstones, and banded siltstones and claystones.
