•The Ashley Formation is NP24 in age, mol- lusks from that subunit having yielded strontium isotope dates of 29.1–29.2 Ma (Weems et al., 2006). The holotype of Ashleycetus planicapitis was found near the base of the Ashley Formation on the east flank of an uplifted structure called the Fort Bull Bulge by Weems and Lemon (1984).
