When: Escuminac Formation, Frasnian (382.7 - 372.2 Ma)

• Bed 220 (Leduc and Belles-Isles, 1989) occurs 54.3 m above the base of the Escuminac Formation, in the lower part of unit 3 of Hesse and Sawh (1982, 1992), just below the horizons bearing the faunal zone 3 of Russel (1939; cf. Parent and Cloutier, 1996, fig. 1). The diverse microflora of the Escuminac Formation indicates that it belongs to the lower part of the Archaeopterisaccus ovalis–Verrucolites bulliferous miospore Assemblage Zone of early to middle Frasnian age (McGregor, 1996; Cloutier et al., 1996).
