SP1, Studorski preval (Triassic of Slovenia)

Where: Slovenia (46.4° N, 13.9° E: paleocoordinates 4.3° N, 25.5° E)

• coordinate stated in text

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Spathian (251.3 - 247.2 Ma)

• Lower Spathian, equivalent to Tirolites cassianus ammonoid zone. Triassospathodus hungaricus fauna.

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: deep subtidal ramp; lithified, shelly/skeletal packstone and lithified lime mudstone

• Sedimentation of the dominantly fine-grained microfacies type B can be interpreted as slow deposition in a deeper marine environment below the fair-weather wave base, which corresponds to the distal part of a ramp. Nevertheless, the interlayering with limestone of microfacies type A suggests that slow deposition of fine-grained sediments (microfacies type B) was

•periodically interrupted by the deposition of coarse skeletal detritus during high-energy events (microfacies type A).

Size class: microfossils

Collection methods: chemical, peel or thin section, acetic,

• Repository: Geological Survey of Slovenia
