10 km south of Tafraout (Cretaceous of Morocco)

Where: Souss-Massa, Morocco (29.7° N, 9.0° W: paleocoordinates 18.3° N, 8.7° W)

• coordinate based on political unit

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Unit 2 Member, Early/Lower Cenomanian (99.6 - 93.5 Ma)

• See revised palaeontology and geology of the Kem Kem beds in Ibrahim et al. 2020

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: fluvial-lacustrine; lithified claystone

• Desiccation cracks are numerous and the fauna, as a whole, suggests a warm, continental environment.
• The new acanthomorph described herein, was found in the upper unit of the Kem Kem beds in a 0.50 m thick clayey lens. This lens rests uncomformably upon a very fossiliferous coarse-grained, detrital bed, where Larsson and Sidor (1999) discovered peculiar crocodyliform teeth. The clayey bed is overlain by another fossiliferous detrital bed. Both detrital beds yield continental vertebrates.
