Also known as V-4524
Where: Huila, Colombia (3.2° N, 75.2° W: paleocoordinates 2.6° N, 72.6° W)
• coordinate based on nearby landmark
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Baraya Member (Villavieja Formation), Laventan (13.8 - 11.0 Ma)
• collected from the unit above the Fish Bed
•
•Note: this collection was noted as L. Miocene age. But Flynn et al., 1997 dated the Honda group and found that the monkey and fish beds belong to the Villavieja formation, Baraya member and have an age of apr. 12.5Ma. This makes them of Laventan age.
•
•The Honda Group is constrained by radiometric and paleomagnetic evidence to between approximately 13.5 Ma–11.8 Ma (Flynn et al., 1996; Guerrero, 1996; Madden et al., 1996).
• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: terrestrial; claystone and sandstone
Size class: macrofossils
Collected by Fields in 1959; reposited in the UCMP
