Where: Portland , Jamaica (18.1° N, 76.5° W: paleocoordinates 19.4° N, 64.4° W)
When: Upper limestone Member (Back Rio Grande Formation), Campanian (83.6 - 72.1 Ma)
• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: reef, buildup or bioherm; lithified limestone
•main section (Fig. 1) show extensive limestones with abundant
•stylolites (localities 5 and 6). At least 25 m of limestone is exposed;
•it yields the same rudist assemblage (C. cubensis, D. krijneni sp. nov.
•and Barrettia sp. A) as the main exposures of the upper limestone
•member (Fig. 7). Krijnen et al. (1993, fig. 14, ‘‘Back Rio Grande Stony
•River’’) recorded Pseudorbitoides rutteni and Vaughanina cubensis
•from our locality 5 and attributed the limestones at this exposure to
•the Rio Grande Formation.
Size class: macrofossils
Preservation: shellbed
