Taxonomy
Hyloidichnus was named by Gilmore (1927). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type is Hyloidichnus bifurcatus.

It was assigned to Seymouriamorpha by Haubold (1971); to Cotylosauria by Haubold (1974); to Seymouriamorpha by Biron and Dutuit (1981); to Reptilia by Valentini et al. (2007); and to Moradisaurinae by Voigt et al. (2010).
