Plesiadapis russelli was named by Gingerich (1976) [specimen is in the Laboratoire de Géologie, Université de Marseille]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Meudon, which is in a Ypresian marine conglomerate in the Vaugirard Formation of France.
