Arcius hookeri was named by López-Torres and Silcox (2018). Its type specimen is NHMUK M 44945, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Abbey Wood, which is in a Ypresian marine sandstone in the Blackheath Beds Formation of the United Kingdom.
