Taxonomy
Lemur tarsier was named by Erxleben (1777). It is extant. It is the type species of Tarsius.
It was synonymized subjectively with Tarsius syrichta by Hill (1953); it was recombined as Tarsius tarsier by Cabrera (1910) and Groves and Shekelle (2010).
