When: Lystrosaurus zone, Fremouw Formation (Beacon Group), Early/Lower Triassic (252.2 - 247.2 Ma)

• "28 m above formational base (for WSU 0974)." (Cosgriff et al., 1982);

•In Collinson et al. (2006, GSA Bull. 118(5/6) pp. 755/756) it is said that the base of the Fremouw Fm. is not exposed in the section and that the lowest vertebrate-bearing bed (incl. Lystrosaurus maccaigi) is 28 m above the base of the section.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

• The "fine-grained mudstone" layer from which the specimen was collected "appears just below the termination of the first [fining-upwards] lithologic cycle."
