When: Baraya Member (Villavieja Formation), Laventan (13.8 - 11.0 Ma)

• Note: Flynn et al., 1997 dated the Honda group and found that the monkey beds belong to the Villavieja formation, Baraya member and have an age of apr. 12.5Ma. This is considered of Laventan age.

•This collection was set as Friasian in age but here it must be the Friasian sensu lato, that includes the Friasian sensu stricto, Mayoan and Laventan.

Environment/lithology: fluvial; gray, green mudstone and sandstone

• 14.8 m of extremely fossiliferous greenish-gray mudstone and sandstone...fining upward sequence includes 1 m thick sandstone followed by 4.5 m of reddish-brown sandy mudstone, 1.2 m of pale-green mudstone, with 0.8 m of reddish-brown mudstone on top.
